Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Canneto 2017

  • £24.00

This excellent estate was bought in 1987 by a group of Swiss friends who had often holidayed near Montepulciano and especially admired Canneto's Vino Nobile, and is now run by Ottorino de Angelis alongside consultant oenologist Carlo Ferrini. There are 26 hectares of hillside vines below the winery on heavy pebbly marl soil, certified organic from the 2018 vintage. The Vino Nobile is aged for 12 months in 500 litre French oak vats and then a further six months in bottle before release, resulting in a rich, concentrated wine with supple plum fruit, notes of soft spice and chocolate and supple, elegant tannins.
