Champagne Veuve Fourny, Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru NV

Brothers Charles-Henry and Emmanuel have run this estate, family owned since 1856, for the last 25 years and their typically low-dosage wines are now some of the purest expressions of Chardonnay made anywhere in Champagne. There are 20 hectares of vineyards on the limestone and chalk soils of Vertus, a 1er Cru village in the renowned Cotes des Blancs. The brothers use a number of organic vineyard techniques and restrict yields heavily to promote quality, resulting in wines with striking freshness and minerality. The Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut is as close as you'll get to a very good sparkling white Burgundy.
