Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Le Telegramme', Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe 2019
The 'second wine' of the celebrated Vieux Telegraphe, Le Telegramme is made from grapes grown on the estate's younger vines, mostly around 30 years old, grown on the two stony, sun-baked plateaux of La Crau and Piedlong. There's more Grenache in the blend than in the 'grand vin' and less ageing in oak foudres, resulting in a more fruit-forward wine, requiring much less time to soften and evolve, with ample rounded plum fruit, notes of spice, leather and herbs, and ripe supple tannins, as good an example of the region as you'd expect from Daniel Brunier, one of its very best winemakers.
