Cantine Valle Isarco, Alto Adige Tutored Tasting - Thursday 2nd July 2026

Cantine Valle Isarco, Alto Adige Tutored Tasting - Thursday 2nd July 2026

  • £25.00

Join us for a summer evening's exploration of wines from the far north of Italy as we welcome back Robert Ewing, whom you may remember from previous excellent tastings of wines from Bulgaria and Hungary, represented in the UK by specialist importer Delibo. Alto Adige (or Sud-Tirol), north of Trentino and centered around the historic town of Bolzano, is one of Italy's smallest wine-making regions and also one of its most distinctive, having an Alpine feel and more in common with its Austrian and German neighbours to the north than with much of southern Italy. Bolzano does however have as many sunshine hours as Palermo in Sicily, providing ideal conditions for the production of its aromatic and complex wines. Indeed vines have been cultivated here since 500BC.

Cantine Valle Isarco is one of several high-quality co-operatives of winegrowers to be found in the region. Founded in 1961 it now includes 135 families growing 14 different grape varieties across 150 hectares of vines. The terroir includes eight different soil types with some vineyards planted as high as 1000m above sea-level. We'll taste five of the wines, both white and red, currently in production to give a snapshot of the variety of styles available, from Pinot Bianco and Sylvaner to Kerner and Pinot Nero. These are delicious and very approachable wines, and also exceptional value for money given the relatively small scale of production.

A selection of light food is included in the ticket price and all the wines will be available to order on the night.

7.00-8.30pm

(feel free to arrive early for a drink in the bar so that we can start promptly at 7.00pm)
