'Mono' Airen, Bodegas Barreda 2020

The Barreda family have been winemakers in Corral de Almaguer (110km south-east of Madrid) since the 18th Century, much longer than their modern labels might suggest. The vineyards are planted quite high at over 700m and the nearby Cuenca mountains help to moderate the heat (grapes are also harvested at night). Their white is 100% Airen from 60 year old vines (aged entirely in stainless steel and bottled each year in February) and fruit-forward, crisp, lively and refreshing.
