Cielos y Besos, Bodega Almaroja 2017

An unusual, characterful blend of local varieties made by English wine-trade expat Charlotte Allen at her estate in the Arribes del Duero National Park. Farming of the old vines on granite bedrock is organic, and sometimes according to biodynamic principles, and winemaking is very much with a 'natural' approach, with neither fining nor filtration and minimal use of sulphur. This full of fresh, ripe berry fruit with darker, more savoury, earthy and even feral notes, really quite a distinctive wine.
