Syrah, 'Les Vignes d'a Cote', Cave Yves Cuilleron 2022

Yves Cuilleron, a fourth generation vigneron, has made this domaine one of the top names in the Northern Rhone and is known for combining the best of modern practice with a traditional, hands-off approach in both vineyard and winery. His Syrah-based St Joseph and Cote-Rotie reds are impressive but for a fraction of the price his IGP level wines offer much of the same character and are every bit as well made. Matured partly in oak barriques this is full of ripe, rounded blackberry/cherry fruit with distinctive earthy/leathery and black pepper notes and some soft tannin for structure.
