'La Brise Marine', Chateau La Negly 2021

  • £18.00

A favourite of mine, and a great expression of the ancient variety Bourboulenc, believed to have been grown by the Ancient Greeks under the name Asprokondoura but now the star white grape of the magnificent La Clape region (recently accorded Cru du Languedoc status) lying between Narbonne and the Mediterranean, sun-baked but cooled by the sea breezes. Claude Gros is consultant oenologist at La Negly and the super-ripe fruit is all picked by hand. This is sumptious, vibrant and quite full-bodied, with lots of citrus and peach fruit, a touch of bitter almond and a clean, fresh finish.
