Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Closerie de Vaudieu', Chateau de Vaudieu 2021

  • £26.00

The imposing 18th Century Chateau de Vaudieu is now owned by Laurent Brechet, who has made substantial improvements, and his wines both in Chateauneuf and Gigondas are excellent value examples of the region. His 75 hectares of Chateauneuf vineyards surround those of Chateau Rayas, quite an illustrious neighbour, with vines over 65 years old. This is concentrated and full-bodied, with plenty of rich dark cherry/cassis fruit, hints of licorice and black pepper, herbal notes and some ripe tannins.
