Prieto Picudo 'Calandria', Bodegas Belote 2016

  • £13.50

This estate was created in 2012 by Alberto Viejo to revive a cellar that first made wine in 1947. There are just 2.5 hectares of vineyards, in Mayorga de Campos in the south-east of Tierra de Leon. The unusual and versatile variety Prieto Picudo (native to Castilla y Leon and scarcely grown anywhere else) is the star here, full of dark damson and cherry fruit with notes of black olive, licorice and cloves, and lively refreshing acidity.
