Ch Burgozone Tutored Tasting: An Introduction to the Wines of Bulgaria - Wednesday 29th November 2023

We're delighted to welcome back David Wright from Delibo, one of the UK's best specialist importers of small growers from Europe and beyond, for an introduction to the little-known wines of Bulgaria and one its leading producers in the Côte du Danube, Chateau Burgozone. This impressive estate, with 100ha of vineyards, is at the same latitude as Tuscany and lies on the southern back of the Danube river near the port of Oryahovo, with an ideal climate for the cultivation of a range of grape varieties. Leading the way in the revival of Bulgaria's winemaking traditions, evidence of the region's viticultural past have been found both in the vineyards and in the remains of the ancient Roman fortress of Burgozone, originally situated on the historic Via Istrum linking Constantinople with Belgrade. This promises to be a fascinating tasting of approachable, contemporary wines from a region which deserves to be rediscovered.
