Argentina

Wine is nothing new to Argentina: the first vine cuttings were brought over in the 16th Century by Spanish conquistadores and priests. Its magnificent mountain ranges, home to the highest vineyards in the world and blessed with just the right combination of sunlight, rainfall and day/night temperatures, make it one of the most exciting wine-making countries of the 'New World'. Malbec reigns supreme but there's much more on offer: its Cabernet Franc and Syrah wines are increasingly some of the best examples found anywhere, and its distinctive, aromatic whites (especially in the cooler regions) are getting better and better.
